A fitting is a part used in a piping system to change direction, branch off, or change the diameter of a pipe that is mechanically attached to the system. There are many different types of Butt-weld Fittings Malaysia and they are the same in all sizes and designs as pipe.

Butt welding is the welding of the fittings or ends of pipes. It is a weld able steel pipe fitting which lets for branching, allows you to change the direction of flow, attach additional equipment or reduce the size of the pipe.

For tube fitting manufacturers, the process of forming welded pipes is basically the same as for seamless pipes. The process of forming welded pipes does not include welding procedures.


The electrofusion process consists of allowing the passage of a low voltage electric current, which is usually located between 8 and 48 v (depending on the model) through the metal turns of the electroweldable fittings.

This causes a heating that welds the tube with the accessory. This heating is known as the ‘ joule effect ‘. The nominal diameter (dn) of pipes that can be welded with this technique ranges from 20 to 800 millimeters (mm).


Butt fusion welding, or butt welding, for its part, is carried out by heating the ends of the tubes to be joined by means of a heating plate at a temperature between 210 and 225 ° c. 

After that, a pressure is reported which is tabulated in advance. Butt welding is used with dn from 90 mm and up to 1,600 mm and wall thicknesses greater than 3 mm.


Although this is being investigated, so far the industry lacks a non-destructive test that provides information on the behavior that welded joints offer in the long term. The best guarantee of durability is always the effective control of the welding parameters.

The traceability, or what is the same, the monitoring and recording of welding conditions and parameters, is the main factor known nondestructive evaluation of pe unions.

Along with this traceability, there is also the visual examination of the weld, by which the bead is checked, in the case of butt welding, and the scraping and witnesses in the case of electrofusion.


The two processes described offer security and bonds that are as reliable as they are durable. The electrofusion is particularly suitable for installations of difficult access, since it has the advantage of not requiring longitudinal movement of the tube.

Both benefit from the use of machines with which the welding process can be monitored. Thanks to them, errors are reduced to a minimum and the operator knows the traceability of the weld.
